The New Grand Palais: The Grand Palais about to get a makeover!
The magnificent Grand Palais, located between the banks of the Seine and the Champs-Elysées, is one of the most emblematic places of the French capital. Built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition and listed as a historical monument in 2000, this architectural gem made of stone, steel and glass has become, over the years, a true symbol of French cultural heritage. In December 2020, the Grand Palais will close its doors to start a spectacular makeover, including major restoration and transformation work. The aim is to bring the building back its former glory while modernising its different spaces. The “Rue du Palais” will thus be created in the basement to connect the Nave, the Grandes Galeries and the Palais de la Découverte, that have so far remained isolated from each other. The New Grand Palais will open in the spring of 2023, right on time to host the 2024 Olympic Games taekwondo and fencing events. For more information, please click on “Learn more””
